Dear children and parents of Harborne Primary School
We are coming to the end of what has been a very interesting week. We would like to say huge thank you to our children who have played their part, working together beautifully as a team. It’s been unsettling, some children and staff have not been with us and some routines have changed. We are so proud of the way you have dealt with this children.
Parents, we know you have lots to think about at the moment and we are so grateful that you have understood what we are dealing with and have trusted us to do our best for the families we serve and our wider community.
As we move to a new system of working, please be assured you are all still part of the HPS family and you can always contact us via the enquiry email or the ‘slido’ facility on the website. We will endeavour to get back to you as soon as we possibly can.
For those children who will be learning at home, as you already know, work has (or soon will be) allocated to each Year group page on the school website. (Home page – Children - Year Group pages – choose year group – Home Learning). You will find lots of ideas here, however, we know how creative our children and parents can be! Please feel free to engage in the sorts of projects and challenges that suit your family situation and children’s interests. There is no pressure to complete all of the tasks on line or return work to school.
We aim to provide more learning for children via ‘One Note’. Teachers are trying really hard to get this up and running as quickly as possible. Again this will be linked to the Year Group pages of the website: simply click on the One Note link. To allow access to this facility, all children (yrs 1-6) have been given an email address to log in to this software. Please can we give a heads up to parents to supervise this carefully as this is a working email address that we intend to be solely used for One Note. All KS2 children have had training today from their class teachers, KS1 may initially need some adult support. All Reception activities and learning ideas will be on their Year Group page on the website.
There will also be paper based learning packs available for families with no internet access. These will be available to collect from the Annex foyer from Tuesday 24th March.
For the next two weeks and during the Easter break, the main Station Road site will be closed to parents and children. While the Annex will be open, we know you will appreciate we are trying to practise social distancing. Therefore can we request you contact us electronically or by telephone.
Thank you so much to all the parents who have sent in good wishes, virtual hugs, treats and chocolate brownies – they were all much appreciated!
Please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all when the situation is more stable.
Miss Hughes and all the HPS staff.
