Harborne Primary School Expansion - Update
18th November 2015
It is with great regret that we write to inform you that unfortunately, Birmingham City Council [BCC] are experiencing significant difficulty with the planning process for the development of our school expansion on the Lordswood site. This means that the project will be postponed until a lease for the land has been agreed and planning permission is approved for our new school development.
Harborne Primary School Governors met on Tuesday 10 November to discuss this delay and to make a decision regarding our future actions. The Governors feel they have no option other than to reduce the school’s pupil admission number [PAN] back to 90 places for September 2016 admissions.
We are still committed to any opportunity to expand our school at a point in the future but only when BCC have established planning permission and the support of other interested parties to proceed.
We fully appreciate the difficulties this causes to parents and carers. It has also made it very difficult for our school to make appropriate plans for our future. However, we cannot, responsibly, open the new school even in temporary accommodation, until we are certain that planning permission will be granted for a permanent new school building.
If you have a concern or a question regarding your application for a place at Harborne Primary School then Birmingham Admissions Department will be able to help you.
