ICT/Computing

Our ICT Leader is Mr Wilson.

As a foundation subject there is no Link Governor.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

Information technology is increasingly important in our society as a tool for learning and communication - it is also very motivating for the children! We are fortunate at Harborne Primary School to have two computer suites in our infant and junior departments where a whole class can be taught simultaneously.

In addition, each classroom is networked, giving all the children access to the internet via the Birmingham Grid for Learning (BGfL) via classroom computers and the Interactive White Board. We also have several portable trolleys containing sets of notebook computers which can be used in classes across our school. This allows the children to use and practice the skills they have learnt in the ICT suite to support and enrich the different subjects within the curriculum. Curriculum areas such as English and Mathematics have individual software packages geared towards individual learning needs - these complement the packages available via the BGfL. Software throughout the network is recommended by the Local Authority and covers stages of learning from Early Years (reception), through Key Stages 1 (infants) and 2 (juniors).
