Admission Arrangements for Reception 2018 cohort.

Our meetings for prospective parents for entry to Reception classes are held every year in October and/or November to fit with the deadline for application. Dates for 2018 entry are on the mornings of Tuesday October 10th and Thursday November 2nd 2017.

We request that you telephone or email to say you will be coming to the open session and also strongly advise that you do not bring your child as this is designed as an opportunity for adults to gather information and so is not always fun for little ones! This involves a full tour of the school with our Year 6 pupils acting as guides followed by an information session with members of the school leadership team. There is also the option of staying on to hear more about the application process and the issues around gaining a place at popular local schools.

After these meetings we will post the powerpoint that we used on this website so that you can refer to it for further information.

We are sorry but we do not usually do additional  individual tours of the school as this can take up such a lot of staff time and we feel our staff need to be focusing on working with our pupils.

If your child has Special Educational Needs and you need specific information about if/how their needs could be catered for you should contact our SENCO Mrs Nelson. It is vital that we have information about individual needs as early as possible so we can group children and  allocate appropriate rooms and staff to best meet those needs. We try to plan an individual transition for these pupils to support their start in school but can only start to do so once we are aware of what their needs are.

STARTING SCHOOL

Admissions Arrangements

Children are admitted to school in the September following their fourth birthday. Following the Local Authority Admissions Policy, places are offered in the following order of priority:

1. To a child with an Educational Health Care plan that names this school (this is rare)

2. To a "Looked after" or "Previously looked after" child

2. To children with brothers or sisters already in the school.

3. To those living nearest to the school.

Prospective parents are welcome to come to our open mornings to find out more about our school and see our children at work. Once a place has been allocated, you will be given dates in the summer term for your child to visit school and meet their new teacher and you will receive specific information about starting school arrangements. We have good links with many local nurseries and invite them or parents to bring the children to visit our Reception stay and play sessions and/or we may visit the children in their pre-school settings. We are happy to tailor a personal induction programme for children with special needs who may need more visits to prepare them for school.

The admissions office can be contacted on e-mail.

Just type in your name, your e-mail address and message in the box below, then press send. Your e-mail will then go straight to Birmingham City Council Admissions Office.
